Questions To Help Guide You Toward The Life You Want

The only way you will ever succeed and achieve your goals is if you are motivated and inspired to do so. Regardless of whether you are a leader or an individual performer. We must take this responsibility upon ourselves and do some self-coaching. Taking this responsibility is how you bring joy back into your life and your work.

What Is Standing in the Way of the Life That You Want?

What is preventing you from living the life you desire? When it comes to how we feel about work, many avoid doing soul-searching. The key is to pull back and look at our answers objectively. This exercise provides data about ourselves and puts us in a position to assess what we need to fix, adjust or not repeat.

The obstacle can be anything. Perhaps the length of your daily commute is too long? Are you working too much and getting home so late you cannot spend time with your family? Maybe your current role with your company is no longer challenging, or the industry you work in fails to inspire you? Target those days when you were the most frustrated and unfulfilled. What happened on those days? Make yourself a list and be specific.

What Gives You Energy and Enthusiasm?

When you genuinely love what you do, you feel energized by it. Contentment and joy have energy. People who lack this joy do not feel energized by their work. Take a minute and consider your responses to the earlier question. These are joy blockers. Here is an example, if a bad relationship with a co-worker is making you miserable, but you love the company you work for, would a transfer to another department bring you joy?

What is the Biggest Thing You Can Imagine That Will Bring You Joy and Positively Impact Your Life and Career?

The one most significant thing is a compelling motivator. It can be your guide when you consider how to spend your time and what to practice. It is essential that you be specific. People often go through their lives wandering aimlessly and coming up short of things that will give them purpose, meaning, joy and success. What do you imagine? A new career? Improved health? Or maybe you want to own a business? It does not matter what it is. The point is to make it big, daring, and inspirational. There is a considerable difference between setting a goal and choosing a compelling destination that will drive you forward.

What Does Success Look Like to You?

Visualizing yourself reaching your destination is a considerable part of self-coaching. What does success look like to you? Imagine yourself in the lobby of your new store or office welcoming your first customer. When you imagine, how does it feel? What is the scent like, or how does it sound? Try to use all five senses to work your imagination muscles.
