How Can You Become More Innovative in 2014?
Everyone admires organizations that are innovative, but what makes them that way? The answer is simple: the people. Organizations that are innovative have innovate employees, and innovate employees deserve innovate leaders. Our team at Exact Staff has compiled some tips to help you become more innovative in 2014.
- Think of all the little things during the workday that bother you. Take those as opportunities to become creative and make them less bothersome.
- Focus on a specific target or goal for the day. By focusing your efforts on one specific task you are less likely to become overwhelmed by the various miscellaneous tasks that end up on your desk throughout the day.
- Do something new each week that takes you out of your comfort zone. This will allow you to grow in ways you never thought possible.
- Put down your mobile device and take time to actually interact with people. The more attentive you are, the more you will learn and the more opportunity for innovation.
- Take time out of your workday for something creative. Go for a walk, brainstorm, anything to refresh yourself.
- Don’t doubt yourself. How many times have you asked yourself, “Am I doing the right thing?” Boost your self-esteem by having confidence in your decisions.
- Don’t get stuck in your ways and block new ideas. Just because something worked one time, doesn’t mean it will continue to work. Think of new ways to challenge the process, and see how it positively affects you.
- Get away from work. Have conversations with your coworkers and talk about anything besides work. Take time to talk to the people you work with and get a better understanding of who they are. By freeing your mind from the stresses a typical day brings, you will find yourself rejuvenated and ready for various tasks when you get back to your desk.
As we kickoff 2014, know that the opportunity for innovation is there for you and for those around you. Make a list of things you would like to achieve, and take action each day toward achieving those goals. Take note of the process that takes place on the path to innovation. Mark your successes and know that it’s okay to have failures, too. When you put your mind to something, the sky is the limit!
